Hear From the Students
"From a very young age, I knew I wanted to study abroad for college. I didn’t know how it was going to happen, but that was my dream. After several weeks of research, we discovered the IFARHU-SENACYT scholarship PAPPS Program. I was part of the first cohort from Public Schools that traveled to the U of A, and my enrollment in the B.S.B.A. supply chain curriculum at the Sam M. Walton College of Business changed my eventual career path in such amazing ways."Layseen Chen – Graduate, Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management
Sponsoring Agencies
By sponsoring international students to study at our institution, your agency will be investing in future global leaders equipped to address today’s most pressing challenges.
The Office of Sponsored Students and Special Programs (SSSP) creates a seamless process for sponsoring agencies to partner with the U of A. Specifically, SSSP assists with:
- Third-party billing for students’ tuition and fees by working closely with University of Arkansas' Accounting Office to provide respective invoices to sponsors.
- Reviewing and coordinating students’ application submissions to ensure consideration and placement in an appropriate program. Application deadline waivers can be arranged.
- Forwarding students’ academic progress reports or grade transcript at the conclusion of each semester. A student release is required for reporting of grades.
- Providing academic monitoring and liaison services. If a student encounters academic problems, the Office of Sponsored Students and Special Program will act as a liaison between the student, academic advisor, academic department and the sponsor.
- Arranging sponsors' campus visits. This service can include scheduling appointments with students and their academic advisors; making hotel reservations, reserving and set up meeting rooms or office space as well as coordinating meetings with other relevant University offices.
Special Programs
The University of Arkansas is actively seeking custom sponsorship programs with international sponsoring agencies. We offer flexibility in developing tailored academic pathways for students that align with your organization’s mission and the specific needs of the countries and industries you support. With access to our world-class faculty, cutting-edge research opportunities, and innovative learning environments, your sponsored students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to make an immediate impact in their field.
Pre-Academic Program for SENACYT Scholars (PAPSS)
The Pre-Academic Program for SENACYT Scholars (PAPSS) is a shining example of the
impactful programs the U of A has formed with international partners. PAPSS is a collaboration
between the University of Arkansas and the Republic of Panama’s National Secretary
of Science, Technology and Innovation (SENACYT). PAPSS is a five-year program designed
to provide a pipeline to college graduation, starting with pre-academic programs in
intensive English language and continuing through academic program culminating with
college graduation. This program offers year-round support to provide the necessary
skills and preparation for scholars to graduate within four years.
