Invitation to Visit the United States and the University of Arkansas

If you would like to invite your parents or family members to visit you while you are a student at the University of Arkansas, you should follow the guidance provided to support their visa application.

Orientation

Attendance at international student orientation is an important part of your student's success at the University of Arkansas. Assist your student make attendance at orientation a priority. We consider it a privilege if you accompany your student to Fayetteville, Arkansas and join us during the orientation program. There is a special reception for you so that you can meet key administrative staff at the University of Arkansas and gain answers to those questions you have.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, commonly known as FERPA, is a federal law designed to protect the privacy of student education records. With few exceptions, all student education records are considered confidential and may not be released without written consent of the student. This protection for college education records begins when the student enrolls in a higher education institution, regardless of the student’s age. Students Under The Age Of 18

If your student will not have reached the age of 18 years old at the time of enrolling at the University of Arkansas, you must take the following steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your student.

  1. You must complete an Authorization for Treatment of a Minor with the Pat Walker Health Center so that your student may receive medical treatment in your absence.
  2. You must provide University Housing with information so that your student can reside in the Residence Halls.

Payment of Tuition and Fees

Your student will not be able to pay for University of Arkansas expenses until registration for the semester which happens during orientation. You then have until the fifth class day to pay the expenses for tuition, fees, university housing, and campus dining. Please refer to the Treasurer's Office website for specific information on how to pay.
