IEW Study Abroad Presentation Request

In honor of International Education Week, the Office of Study Abroad is proud to bring international education opportunities to your classroom. Presentations will introduce study abroad options available to University of Arkansas students (there more than 1,700!), discuss study abroad scholarships and provide guidelines for the application process.

If your class has a specific region or language focus, we would be happy to provide appropriate resources. Include details of class focus and demographic in the "notes" section of the
Study Abroad Virtual Presentation Request.

Presenters are available Monday- Friday 8:00am -5:00pm. Presentations take approximately 20 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes allowed for Q & A. Requests are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve, basis. Please apply early.

The International Culture Team is a presentation team made up of international students and scholars, as well as, American students who have studied abroad or just want to be a part of the team. If you would like to schedule a presentation for your office or group, you can do that by filling in this submission form. Most presentations are virtual right now, but if you class is meeting in person, we can most likely find a presenter as well.

I began my culinary passion at a very young age helping my Nonna in the kitchen. By 16 I was working at a local restaurant washing dishes eventually climbing up to the line. Worked in restaurants all over the world from catering to food truck to 5 star restaurants. My passion for food has taken me all over the world and it continues to inspire and amaze me. This dish showcases the ability of Native South Americans to work with different types of muscle cuts from animals not popular in other places as well as growing hundreds of different varieties of potatoes to show case their understanding of food and the effect we can have on it when we understand the ingredients we are working with, and the basic gastronomic reactions that happen at a chemical level. Their ancient knowledge And adaptations from a diverse spectrum of cultures guides them through the ability to manage the ingredients available to them to create their own unique flavor. It is dishes and techniques like this that I have gained knowledge of in my studies that fuel my passion for a more broader understanding of food as well as the diversity that multiculturalism brings to the food we enjoy.

I was born and raised in Szczecin, Poland. Growing up we had only so many ingredients to work with, so our dishes had to be creative. Cooking was one of the centers of our gatherings. We cooked as a family, and we made large portions to eat on for multiple days. Some of the most popular ingredients we cook with in Poland are cabbage, sausage, potatoes, and sauerkraut. When I moved to the U.S., I had to learn a different style of cooking entirely. I love being in the kitchen. Cooking for others has always been a passion of mine. Seeing the smile that a delicious meal brings to a face melts my heart.
