Visiting Student Programs

  • For the Spring and Fall 2014 semesters, the University of Arkansas enrolled 59 and 185 visiting students, respectively, 23 of whom were sponsored students in the Spring and 152 were sponsored students in the Fall. The activities planned for these students included a field trip to Crystal Bridges/Wal-Mart museum tours, American Food Truck social event, and end of semester luncheons. The professional activities included resume workshops, internship search sessions, and attendance at College of Engineering STEM career events. 34 of 42 visiting BSMP students acquired internships in the summer of 2014, many with local companies such as Wal-Mart Optical Lab, Cargill, and Lynxus.
  • A visiting sponsored student, Wanessa Bezerra, founded the Brazilian Student Organization on campus and with the help of over 25 VSP student volunteers, held an inaugural event with more than 300 attendees.
  • One American and two Chinese administrators from the Study Abroad Foundation were hosted on the University of Arkansas campus to better understand and represent the university to their prospective students.
  • Visiting students contributed approximately 580 hours of volunteer service to the NWA community in 2014 with an estimated economic impact to the area of $10,979. (2013 Figures: www.independentsector.org)
